What does executive search mean?

In executive search candidates are sought out (and found) for open positions outside job advertisements. During the executive search, candidate research is carried out. This means mapping out and identifying suitable candidates who meet the criteria of the recruitment assignment. These people are contacted, they are told about the open position and the organization, and they are asked about their interest in continuing discussions on the topic. Interested persons who are best suited for the position will be interviewed by an executive search consultant. The consultant presents to the client the candidates she or he recommends for further interviews.
